According to Charles Brues (1928, referenced in ISU's bugguide), in temperate climates there are few male Pelecinid wasps. Females reproduce alone through parthenogenesis. The female then sticks its ovipositor, at the end of its six segmented abdomen, into soil searching for insect larvae. She lays one egg per beetle grub. The larvae burrows into it, feeds and pupates in the corpse.
